Ziam Kurt
Age: 5
Condition: Gum Surgery
Ziam's parents were surprised when he was born with a cleft lip, a condition inherited from his father's side of the family. They believe this condition may have been influenced by a sliding accident his mother had during pregnancy. Since birth, Ziam has been bottle-fed, and as he grew older, his mother adapted his diet to include soft foods. Initially hesitant, Ziam's older sister has grown to care deeply for him. Meanwhile, Ziam's father, a construction worker in Talisay City, works hard to provide for the family, often being away for most of the week.
In February 2023, Ziam underwent successful surgery to repair his cleft palate, and on March 1, 2024, he had surgery for his cleft lip. This was made possible through the assistance of the Abounding in Love program, in collaboration with Rotaplast International and the Rotary Club of Cebu Port Centre. He is now scheduled for a medical mission with Rotaplast International this March for gum surgery, and his mother hopes that he will qualify for the screening.
