Age: 1 Year and 5 Months Old
Condition: Cleft Palate
When Ashier was five months in his mother’s womb, an ultrasound revealed a cleft condition. Although this was difficult news, it wasn’t entirely unexpected due to family history. His parents struggled to accept the diagnosis but found comfort in knowing organizations exist to help children like Ashier.
Upon his birth, feeding became a challenge as Ashier struggled to drink properly, leading to a frightening incident where he choked on formula and needed hospital care. Despite these hurdles, Charlyn and her partner remain hopeful. They believe early surgery will help Ashier avoid bullying and social stigma. Above all, they want him to grow up healthy and confident, able to pursue his dreams without limitations.
Ashier's parents were searching for free surgery when they discovered the organization Abounding through social media. After reaching out to them, Abounding scheduled Ashier for the Rotaplast medical mission in March 2025. Fortunately, Ashier qualified for the screening and received the cleft lip surgery he needed. His parents were extremely grateful for the surgery. This coming March, Ashier is also scheduled for palate surgery, which is essential for his complete healing. His parents hope to correct his palate to enhance his speech as he grows up.

Please be aware that the children enrolled medical missions always have the possibility of changing. It is not uncommon for children to be deemed ineligible for surgery due to other health issues. If this occurs with a child you are sponsoring, we will substitute another child in their place and notify you via email.
