Condition: Cleft Palate
Sheila and Bryll, Carvee's parents, couldn't believe that their baby boy had a cleft condition. They were shocked because their previous child wasn't born with this condition. Carvee had health problems right after he was born and needed to go to the NICU. Leaving his parents in distress and full of worries.
Sheila was in the hospital many times during her pregnancy with Carvee. She was worried about how this would affect his development, especially because some of her relatives also had cleft conditions. Sheila was stressed because Carvee cried a lot, especially during feeding times. She tried different methods to make sure that her son got enough food. Despite the challenges, Sheila extends comforting words to fellow parents, reminding them they're not alone in their journey of caring for children with cleft conditions.
In June 2023, Carvee had a successful cleft lip surgery at Visayas Medical Hospital with the help of Operation Rainbow Australia and the Kiwanis Club of Cebu. Carvee and his family are now waiting for his cleft palate surgery in June 2024. We can help Carvee get the surgery he needs to be healthy. Let's help him and his family.

Please be aware that the children enrolled in medical missions always have the possibility of changing. It is not uncommon for children to be deemed ineligible for surgery due to other health issues. If this occurs with a child you are sponsoring, we will substitute another child in their place and notify you via email.
