Chrislyn's arrival into the world was a beautiful surprise for her parents, who didn't detect her bilateral complete cleft during the prenatal ultrasound. Despite the initial shock, the family embraced Chrislyn's condition with gratitude for her health and vitality. With relatives on both sides of the family also impacted by cleft conditions, the family recognized the importance of addressing Chrislyn's needs promptly. 
 
However, financial constraints posed a significant obstacle for the family, as Hermogenes, the father, struggled to make ends meet on minimum wage. The cost of Chrislyn's necessary surgery and care proved to be challenging for the family. Despite the hardships, the family relied on bottle-feeding for Chrislyn, and even providing formula milk and vitamins became a significant financial strain.
But hope was reignited for the family when they learned about Abounding in Love through a fellow beneficiary. The organization could provide support for Chrislyn's surgery and beyond. The family's aspirations for Chrislyn go far beyond her surgery, with dreams of a future where she can grow up healthy, pursue her education, and thrive without the burden of her cleft condition.
 
Thanks to the partnership between Abounding in Love, Operation Rainbow Australia, and the Kiwanis Club of Cebu, Chrislyn underwent successful cleft lip surgery in June 2023. With the surgery behind them, the family eagerly anticipates Chrislyn's next operation for her palate surgery.
