Condition: Cleft Palate
Maria first learned from an ultrasound that her daughter, Elle, would be born with a cleft condition. Even with that knowledge, nothing could fully prepare her for the moment she gave birth. She was overwhelmed, unsure of how to feel, and filled with questions no mother ever expects to face. Maria and her family came to embrace Elle completely - because no matter what, she is her daughter.
Maria worries about how people might treat her because of how she looks, and how that might affect her emotionally as she grows older. She also believes that surgery will change Elle’s life - restoring not just her appearance, but building her confidence, too. Maria dreams of one day seeing Elle become a flight attendant, proudly sharing her beautiful smile with the world.
The family first learned about Abounding in Love through Elle’s grandfather’s boss. In March 2025, Elle underwent a successful cleft lip surgery thanks to Rotaplast International and the Rotary Club of Cebu Port Centre. This coming March, Elle was scheduled to have her surgery for the palate with Rotaplast International. Hoping that she will be able to pass the screening so she can have her palate surgery.

Please be aware that the children enrolled medical missions always have the possibility of changing. It is not uncommon for children to be deemed ineligible for surgery due to other health issues. If this occurs with a child you are sponsoring, we will substitute another child in their place and notify you via email.
