John Neil  from  Cebu City, was born with a cleft palate, a condition that came as a complete surprise to his mother, Roselyn Rodriguez. Aside from his cleft palate, John Neil also faced several medical challenges early in life, including surgery for an anorectal condition, hearing difficulties, developmental delays, and a heart condition that fortunately resolved on its own.
 
Despite these challenges, John Neil has remained a cheerful child who loves singing, dancing, and helping with simple household chores. His mother continues to encourage him and reminds other parents to love and accept their children unconditionally, believing that every child deserves to grow up with confidence and dignity.
 
In 2025, John Neil successfully underwent cleft palate surgery during the Operation Rainbow Australia Medical Mission. He also participated in speech therapy through Rotaplast International. However, after his recovery, his family discovered that there was still a small opening in his palate that requires another corrective surgery. Earlier this year, he also joined an Operation Smile screening but was advised to first complete a nutrition program before undergoing another procedure.
 
Determined to continue his journey toward complete healing, John Neil has been lined up for the upcoming Operation Rainbow Australia Medical Mission this August. His family is praying that he will once again qualify for surgery so the remaining opening in his palate can finally be repaired.

It is not uncommon for children to be deemed ineligible for surgery due to other health issues. If this occurs with a child you are sponsoring, we will substitute another child in their place and notify you via email.
