Maria Ester was born with a unilateral complete cleft lip and palate, which she inherited from her mother, Marlie. Marlie and Maria's grandmother were concerned about the challenges Maria Ester may face as she grows up, but they remain committed to supporting her every step of the way. Unfortunately, the family is struggling to afford the necessary surgery to correct the condition. Maria's mother is still studying, and her father has left them, leaving them under the care of Maria's grandmother. Despite these obstacles, the family remains united and hopeful.
Fortunately, the family recently discovered medical missions and organizations in Cebu that gave them a newfound optimism. Through a post on their barangay's Facebook page, they learned about Abounding in Love and an upcoming medical mission in June. This mission is organized by Operation Rainbow Australia in partnership with the Kiwanis Club of Cebu. This news has filled Marlie and her family with excitement and anticipation as they eagerly await the mission's arrival.
