Upon learning of their child's cleft condition, Christine and Socrates Sr. experienced a range of emotions - shock, sadness, and gratitude for a successful delivery. Their immediate concern was for their son's future and the potential discrimination he may face.
The family's journey with Socrates Jr.'s cleft condition has been filled with uncertainty and obstacles. Despite having no known relatives affected by clefts, Christine remains positive. She attributes her son's condition to a slip she experienced during her pregnancy, compounded by delays in seeking prenatal care and taking vitamins. Feeding Socrates Jr. has also been challenging due to his cleft, but with the switch to baby formula, the family has adapted and continues providing him with the care and support he needs.
The family is grateful for the support they have received from organizations like Abounding In Love and the successful cleft lip surgery he underwent during the Operation Rainbow medical mission in 2023. They are also optimistic about his upcoming palate surgery during the June 2024 mission, which they believe will pave the way for a brighter future, free from the challenges associated with his condition.

The family is grateful for the continued support and encouragement they have received and remains confident in their son's ability to overcome any obstacle.
