Zyra came into the world bringing a mix of joy and unexpected challenges for her parents. They were shocked when they discovered her cleft condition, which hadn’t shown up in the ultrasounds. As the youngest of three, she was loved from the start, but feeding her was tough until they found a special baby bottle designed for kids with cleft conditions—this discovery changed everything for them.
Her parents often wondered what might have caused her cleft, even recalling a jarring motorcycle ride during pregnancy. They felt a weight of guilt, especially as they watched Zyra face teasing from her cousins. Yet, they hold onto hope that after her upcoming surgery, she’ll feel more accepted and confident.
In March 2025, Zyra had her cleft lip surgery thanks to the incredible support of Rotaplast International and the Rotary Club of Cebu Port Centre. Now, this March, she’s scheduled for palate surgery, and her parents are praying for a smooth process so she can finally receive the care she truly deserves.

Please be aware that the children enrolled medical missions always have the possibility of changing. It is not uncommon for children to be deemed ineligible for surgery due to other health issues. If this occurs with a child you are sponsoring, we will substitute another child in their place and notify you via email.
